Understanding Whistlr's Navigation and Main Tabs
Opening Whistlr for the first time can feel like walking into a new city — lots to see, and not immediately obvious where everything is. This guide walks through the main navigation so you know exactly where to go for what, whether you're catching up on friends, discovering something new, or posting your own content.
Your Home Base: The Main Feed
The center of your navigation bar (usually the house or feed icon) takes you to your main feed, sometimes called Flow. This is your personalized content stream, built from the accounts you follow in your In Circle along with content Whistlr thinks you'll enjoy based on what you engage with. It's the tab you'll likely open most — a mix of posts, Imprints, and Stories from Chattr, plus Minis woven in as you scroll. Pull down on the feed at any time to refresh it with the newest content.
Right next to your main feed, you'll typically find a dedicated tab for Minis — Whistlr's short-form video feed. Tapping it drops you into a full-screen, swipe-up experience similar to scrolling through quick video after quick video. It's a separate space from your main feed on purpose, so you can choose between a mixed feed of everything you follow and a focused video-only session whenever you're in the mood for one.
Finding Something New: Discover and Nearby
The Discover tab, often shown as a magnifying glass or compass icon, is built for finding new accounts, Pods, and content outside your existing In Circle. It surfaces trending posts, popular Minis, and creators gaining momentum, organized into categories you can browse by interest. Nearby sits alongside it (or one tab over, depending on your layout) and flips the focus from trending to local — showing posts, Minis, and events happening around your current location. Use Discover when you want to see what's popular generally, and Nearby when you want to see what's happening close to home.
The Create Button: Posting to Whistlr
Front and center in your navigation bar, usually a plus or camera icon, is the create button — your starting point for posting anything to Whistlr. Tapping it opens a menu where you choose what you want to share: a Mini, a post or Imprint for Chattr, a Story, or a Wave if you're sharing something music-based. From here you can also start a live stream if you have that feature enabled. Because everything you post funnels through this single button, it's worth getting familiar with it early — it's the fastest way to find every posting option in one place.
Next to the create button, you'll find your messages icon, which opens Replyd, Whistlr's direct messaging system. From there you can view one-on-one conversations, group chats, and any Pod channels you're part of. A badge or dot on this icon lets you know when you have unread messages waiting, so you never have to guess whether someone's reached out.

Good navigation should disappear once you've learned it — within your first few sessions, finding your way around Whistlr should feel automatic, leaving all your attention for the people and content you came for.
Your Profile Tab and Beyond
The final icon in your navigation bar, typically your own profile picture, takes you to your personal profile. This is where you'll see your posts, Minis, and Imprints laid out together, along with your follower and In Circle counts. From your profile, you can also reach Settings (usually a gear icon in the corner), where notification preferences, privacy controls, appearance settings, and account details all live. If you've set up a Business account or use Creator Studio, you'll also find quick links to those professional tools from your profile page.
It's worth spending a few minutes tapping through each tab when you're new to Whistlr, just to see what lives where. Once you've built that mental map, switching between catching up with friends on your feed, discovering something new, and posting your own content becomes second nature — and that's really the whole point of the navigation bar in the first place.
